Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. Born in Greece and moved to England at the age of 16. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to serve as president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the position. Following after her college graduation, she became a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. It was possible for her to recruit several prominent contributors who posted their views regarding politics and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of the Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient automobiles. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th place on the list and in the same year, the Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL, Inc. appointed her President of their media group in 2011 after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant and journalist. Though she was close to her father, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her life. Even in her formative age, she displayed her leadership skills and is a household name. At the age of sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college and was the third female to serve as the president. In 1972, she earned an honorary degree in Economics. Her career as a journalist and television host started after her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She began to write books and enlisting his assistance to edit.
